D'espairsRay's new single is a song that you have to listen to with your heart and not your head. See my head tells me it's a rehash of "Mirror" style (and since Karyu posted on his blog that they wrote it a year ago, my head's right). And I can't help wishing for something a little darker, a little harsher.But when I turned it up on my car's stereo, opened all the windows and went cruising down the highway, it sent me soaring with it's beautiful chorus and headbanging bridge. In no time I was belting out "Ke~ga~re~nai O~mo~i wo sakende mujun e hanate" with a big smile on my face. Who needs a head anyhow? XD
On the other hand Cocoon feels like a song released too soon. The chorus and short bridge are cool, but the verses are absolutely forgettable. I wonder what would have happened if they had let this one percolate a bit more before releasing it. It's an appropriate B-side, though. With a nice big poster to go along with the CD and a photo card,* I think my $20 was well spent (even if shipping was twice the cost of the CD).

This made my day. I knew Hizumi and ryo were friends, but it's so cool to see them working together. XD

@ your Ryo comment, Ryo also did the art direction for Spiral Staircase #15, if you watch the credits. He's credited as "Ryo Honma (9 goats black art)". And i really like the new single, but it's just not doing anything for me.
Ah, I'm a bad girl and never watch the credits. I knew he was working for D, but I had missed the D'espairsRay stuff.
